Harmony of the Seas is Royal Caribbean International's 4th
ship to be designed and built with a multi-stream exhaust gas cleaning system, or Advanced Emission Purification (AEP) system (known as scrubbers or exhaust gas cleaning systems). We believe using scrubbers is the most efficient way to have the broadest impact on reducing harmful emissions. The AEP (scrubber) system is designed to treat exhaust gases created by the ship’s generators, by injecting water into the exhaust stream and removing approximately 98% of sulfur dioxide emissions (Sox), 50 - 60% of particulate matter (PM), and, as a byproduct, some Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) (although it’s not designed to remove NOx).
These are examples of initiatives which make Harmony of the... Seas Royal Caribbean International's most energy-efficient and technologically advanced ship ever built. Harmony has not only set a new standard in the cruise industry, but also raised the bar on enviornmental stewardship technology.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL) and World Wildlife Fund... (WWF) announced today a five-year global partnership to help ensure the long-term health of the oceans.
