Hundreds of local students can explore maritime careers, ship operations through curated Royal Voyagers program
MAHAHUAL, Mexico – April 24, 2026 — As part of Royal Caribbean Group’s ongoing investment in the communities where it operates, Mahahual students recently had the opportunity to participate in Royal Caribbean’s Royal Voyagers Program, where close to 700 children experienced a real-world classroom at the local port. Designed as an educational ship-visit experience, the program invites students onboard Royal Caribbean ships for guided tours and hands-on activities focused on maritime careers, ship operations and sustainability practices.
“These visits go far beyond a ship tour,” said Ari Adler Brotman, president, Royal Caribbean Mexico. “They are about opening doors, sparking curiosity, and helping young people see themselves as part of the future of maritime, tourism and sustainability—right in their own community.”
Building Pride, Possibility, and Local Connection
Participating schools represented a broad cross-section of the Mahahual community, including public elementary, middle, high and private schools—underscoring the program’s inclusive, community-centered approach.
The Royal Voyagers experience was tailored by age group to ensure meaningful engagement every step of the way over the course of four months:
“As a local, welcoming Mexican students onboard Explorer of the Seas is especially meaningful to me,” said Explorer of the Seas cruise director, Jerry. “When they step onto the ship and their eyes light up, you can feel the pride—because this is their homeport, and these opportunities can be theirs, too. Royal Voyagers gives them a firsthand look at shipboard life and the many career paths available at sea.”
The Mahahual Royal Voyagers Program reflects Royal Caribbean Group’s SEA the Future commitment –with an emphasis on Energizing Communities to support education, nurture local talent, and foster a sense of shared stewardship for the oceans and communities that make vacations possible.
