Odyssey of the Seas Steel Cutting to Delivery Mashup

March 2021* – Royal Caribbean International officially took delivery of its 25th ship, Odyssey of the Seas, during a virtual ceremony held on March 31, 2021. The second Quantum Ultra Class ship debuts in July to begin its inaugural season of 6- and 8-night Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Odyssey of the Seas Virtual Delivery Ceremony

March 2021* - Royal Caribbean International officially took delivery of its 25th ship, Odyssey of the Seas, in a virtual ceremony held on March 31, 2021. Fans had front-row seats to the celebration during an untraditional Facebook premiere event – a first in the cruise line’s 52-year history. Showcasing a global lineup, the event included the ship’s blessing led by Seafarers’ House at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, a show-stopping performance from signature venue Two70 on board Quantum of the Seas sailing in Singapore, and executives of Royal Caribbean in Florida and Meyer Werft Yard in Papenburg, Germany.

*June 2021 Update Odyssey of the Seas will now debut in July when it sets sail as the first Quantum Ultra Class ship to cruise from the U.S. The brand-new ship will cruise roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on a series of 6- and 8-night Caribbean itineraries during its inaugural season.

The 20-mile (32-kilometer), 10-plus-hour journey brings the highly anticipated ship one step closer to its debut. Odyssey is set to sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in July to begin its inaugural season of 6- and 8-night cruises.

November 2023 – After more than seven years of dreaming, Royal Caribbean International’s highly anticipated Icon of the Seas has become a reality. The recently completed construction of the first-of-its-kind vacation took place over the course of 900 days in Turku, Finland, starting with the first cut of steel in June 2021. February 2023 – And then there were two: Royal Caribbean International’s second ship in the revolutionary Icon Class is officially underway with the first cut of steel. To celebrate the initial construction milestone for the next in the lineup of the world’s best family vacations, a traditional steel-cutting ceremony was held at Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. The soon-to-be-named ship will set sail in 2025, following Icon of the Seas’ debut in January 2024.

Icon of the Seas Construction Update: Floating Out for the First Time

January 2023 – The world’s best family vacation is one step closer to its highly anticipated debut in January 2024. Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas reached its next major construction milestone in December 2022. With 58 million gallons of water, five tugboats and one cannon shot, watch how the revolutionary ship was floated out of dry dock and into its outfitting pier at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, where it will complete its final stages of construction.
