The Next Era of Cruising is on the Horizon: Construction Starts on Icon of the Seas at Meyer Turku

June 2021 – Royal Caribbean marked the official start of construction on its first Icon Class ship at a steel-cutting ceremony in Turku, Finland on Monday, June 14. Debuting in fall 2023, the cruise line’s first of three LNG-powered (liquefied natural gas) ships will be named Icon of the Seas. With game-changing experiences and features as well as a lineup of other advanced environmental technologies, all to be revealed at a future date, the state-of-the-art ship is set to introduce a new era of cruising.
