Icon of the Seas Construction Update: Royal Caribbean Celebrates Keel-Laying Milestone

April 2022 – Royal Caribbean International's highly anticipated Icon of the Seas reached a construction milestone ahead of its fall 2023 debut. A keel-laying ceremony took place in Turku, Finland, to mark the start of the ship’s physical construction. Icon will set sail with the latest innovations and signature features, including a shift toward cleaner energy. The cruise line’s first to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) – the cleanest fossil fuel available to cruise ships today  the Icon Class ship represents the next important step in Royal Caribbean’s journey toward a clean-energy future.
