ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL INTRODUCES SKYDIVING EXPERIENCES AT SEA
RipCord by iFly on Quantum Class, Gives Guests the Thrill of Flying
MIAMI - First Royal Caribbean International taught guests to rock climb and ice skate, then to surf and zip line. Now on the Quantum-class of ships, guests are going to learn how to fly! Adding to its repertoire of firsts at sea, the cruise line will offer thrill seekers the ultimate rush of skydiving onboard Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, with RipCord by iFLY.
The first skydiving experience at sea allows everyone from first-time flyers to seasoned skydivers to enjoy the sheer thrill and exhilaration of skydiving in a safe, controlled, simulated environment. The sensation of flying takes place inside a 23-foot tall glass flight chamber, the center piece of RipCord by iFLY, giving Royal Caribbean guests the chance to fly while taking in stunning ocean views. It is surrounded by a viewing platform for friends, family and other spectators so everyone can take part in the fun. Located on the outdoor Sports Court at the stern of the ship, RipCord by iFLY overlooks the FlowRider surf simulator and is situated adjacent to the Rock Climbing Wall, creating a trifecta of adrenaline-pumping guest activities found only on Royal Caribbean.
Before taking flight guests are required to register and participate in a training course where they are shown an overview video and taught correct flight position and hand signals from accredited instructors. Guests are then outfitted in their flight gear, including a jumpsuit, goggles and helmet. Once on the flight deck, each guest enjoys two, one-minute long flights with an instructor, consisting of one practice flight followed by a free-style flight. Guests leave RipCord by iFLY having experienced an adventure of a lifetime, and can purchase commemorative photos and video to cherish for years to come.
Additional details about dining, entertainment and other unexpected features and amenities on Quantum of the Seas will be unveiled in the coming months.
